Christmas 2009--bah, humbug!  It is not that we didn't want to celebrate the event in our customary fashion by eating an extraordinary meal at my sister, Francie's house, followed by a gift exchange and games.  It is that Old Man Winter intervened.  On December 24 and 25, we received nearly a foot of snow with strong winds making travel impossible.  When they close the interstate highways in North Dakota, you know it's truly horrible outside.  Bill's family was holed up in his house for three days.  And I do mean holed up.  A friend had to come over and shovel snow away from a door so they could get out.  The gathering at Francie's will have to await December 2010.

The snow made for some nice scenery around town after the winds died down.  This Pioneer Family in front of the state capitol is accustomed to cold weather.

Brian, Jason, Elaine, and Bill [plus Jason's wife, Franni, not shown] did make it to Grandma's place before the new year so we got a chance to visit for a few hours.  Franni is singing with a new band, Under The Covers, in the Twin Cities.  Jason is playing rhythm guitar and doing back up vocals for country singer, Shane Wyatt.  Brian is doing his residency at a hospital in Salt Lake City.  Bill is retired and Elaine is cutting back to three days a week.

The Bjornsons [Judy and Keith], Dennis Steele and Dale Hoerauf donned the 3-D glasses in preparation for this year's blockbuster, Avatar.  Great flick!  Now, it's time to work on getting rid of those delicious sugar cookies and other holiday treats.

Santa brought me an iMac and there is a learning curve involved in mastering iWeb so it may be a while before I update this web site.  Hang tough.

Best wishes for a wonderful new year!
