Reed called on Thanksgiving to say that he had given his men the day off and they were safe, if a little cold, somewhere in the heartland of Afghanistan. He did not have much time to talk but said they are doing well and had a good meal. They are 9 1/2 hours ahead of us, time-wise, so his turkey was digested long before we saw ours on the table.
