Meredith has had a busy summer, mostly working as a legal intern at Legal Services of North Dakota in Bismarck.  That organization serves low income people and juveniles accused of unruly or delinquent behavior.  Thanks to mentors, Brad Peterson and Tom Jackson, Mere got plenty of hands-on experience.  They had her in court representing clients, examining witnesses, and arguing cases.  LSND director, Jim Fitzsimmons wrote a letter to the law school praising Meredith and fellow intern and classmate, Mikayla Joblonski, for the excellent work they did, saying they were the best interns the program has ever had.

In July, Mere and Pam traveled to Duluth, Minnesota for a family reunion.  Pam's mother's maiden name was Dick.  It was these folks who gathered on Lake Superior.

Mere and Pam said the weather was cold and blustery most of the weekend there.

Mere and Marjorie (Dick) Rombauer pose at the family gathering.  Marjorie is a retired professor who taught for more than 30 years at the University of Washington School of Law.  She's one heck of an accordion player, too!

In the sad news department, Mere learned the case she so artfully argued before the North Dakota Supreme Court last spring was finally decided.  The justices split 3-2 but the majority ruled against Meredith's client.  The argument made the UND Law School's on line newsletter.  In a week or so, she is headed back to Grand Forks for her final year of law school.
