Meredith turns 17

Meredith's birthday, as well as that of her cousin Anna, falls one week before Christmas.  That makes it hard for it not to get overlooked in the holiday rush.  This year, Mere had some friends over for brunch.  Afterwards, they sat at the kitchen table and talked for hours.  Her parents shook their craggy heads in amazement.

On the front patio

Reed is selling his "beast" (1984 Honda Prelude) but gave Meredith his auto CD player for her birthday.  He surprised her by installing it while she was in school on December 18.  Of course, he had to disable it so she couldn't start it and drive to school, giving him the time to complete the installation.  Above, Meredith opens cards from her grandparents.
