It was a relatively warm Spring day--what better a time to hit the road to visit Maddock. Our first stop was the Maddock Community Center on Main Street.

Firemann visits with a couple of ladies who help with the community Meals on Wheels program.

The community center has a unique roof, something Firemann lobbied hard to have constructed. It has held up well over the years. Firemann also built the low stage shown above. He put in countless hours bringing the project to fruition.

A plaque in the hallway near the entrance to the community center recognizes Firemann and others on the Board of Directors for the center.
Next, we visited the cemetery, then came back downtown to the bank where Firemann visited with the bank president.

Janet met us for lunch at the bowling alley--good food but when the ladies' league started up it got a bit deafening inside.

As we left the bowling alley, we saw a familiar sight in Maddock. Ansel Haukness was tooling down the street in his golf cart.

Ansel lives at the nursing home and we stopped there to visit with him after he finished his errands which included buying some wine. He is 94 and still going strong.

Our second-to-last stop was at North Viking Lutheran Church where the Legreid
kids were baptized and Pam and I were married. The gold cross near the
pulpit on the center-right of the photo was purchased with funds contributed by
Firemann in memory of Mary Lois.
We then drove out to Curt and Cody Olson's new home west of town. We had a good visit with them and met their five-month-old son, Macyn. Afterwards, we headed south, out of the snow belt, and got to Bismarck before nightfall.
