Fargo, North Dakota--blues capitol?  Whodathunkit? But there they were, some of the best blues bands in the country, congregated on a ball diamond in the Red River Valley.

It was plenty cool on Friday night when Dale Hoerauf and I rolled into town.  Dale is a big fan of John Mayall, the headliner for the night.  We got to Newman Field and plunked down our lawn chairs just moments before the show began.

Ready for the really big shew.

Young  and old enjoyed the concert.

John Mayall did not disappoint.  Though 70, his voice still packed a punch and his guitar playing was extraordinary.  Once coupled with Eric Clapton and several others who have achieved musical fame, Mayall is one of the most well-respected exemplars of the Chicago blues style.

A couple of young demons enjoy the show.  You would think that we could take off our parkas in August, but noooooo.

The sound guy.

My only complaint: the show was over by 10:30 p.m.  We headed over to Dale's sister's home in south Fargo for a pleasant rest before golfing the Fargo Country Club on Saturday morning.  Then it was back to Newman Field for more music.
