The Vukelic Cup 2009

Mike putts for birdie on # 8.  The pin placements were not conducive to many birdies that day.

On #4, an uphill par 5, Scott and Bob Freed had to decide who should hit the drive as this was an alternate-shot hole.  Scott said, "I've been driving it pretty well and I'm not so good at hitting a fairway wood off the deck on the second shot, so how about I hit the drive?"  Bob graciously agreed.

Scott reacts after hitting his drive straight up the middle--40 yards!  At the end of the first round, The Force was in command of the tournament.

Mike & Dave [The Force] defeated Nick & Larry, 5.5 to 3.5; Doug & Bob T [The Force] defeated Dale & Dennis, 7 to 2; but Scott and Bob F [The Dark Side] defeated Russ & Chuck, 5.5 to 3.5 [go figure--Bob must have played very well].  The second round was straight match play.

Russ prays to the golf gods that his ball does not stray too far left after driving on #1.

Here is a man with a hot hand.  After his three playing partners all hit the green with their tee shots on #8 [then two-putted for pars], Doug stepped up and chipped in for birdie.  I would smile, too!
