After a nasty experience on United Airlines last winter, we decided our trip to Kentucky for Reed and Mollie's wedding would be made on the ground.  It was a good decision as we had plenty of goodies to pack and would have had to take extra suitcases on the airline [ca-ching!].  Meredith rode the whole way in the back seat with hernotes and study guides.  She takes the bar exam next week.  Dum-da-dum-dum.

We spent our first night on the road at Linda and Harold's cabin on Little McDonald Lake near Perham, Minnesota.  Their house and yard are gorgeous.  You can see they are adding on to the west end of the house.  I particularly like the vaulted ceiling in what will be a family room upstairs.  One of their neighbors, a very helpful man, has garnered the nickname, "Chemical Ali" because he eradicates weeds without much stooping and digging.  Dandelions have given up and moved elsewhere.

We celebrated Pam's birthday a little early while at the cabin.

Linda is recovering from injuries related to the collision when a man ignored a stop sign and t-boned her. Local politicians are becoming well-acquainted with her [and Harold] as she relentlessly pursues better signage and other safety measures designed to prevent someone else from injury or worse.

The next day, we drove to Madison, Wisconsin and spent the night with Anna and J.D.  Above, Summitt relaxes in front of Anna and Mere.

Krista takes a short nap in my lap.

We got on the road Tuesday morning, wending our way through the ubiquitous construction in Chicago. Our gps unit saved me from several bad turns.  Can't see how you could live in a big city without one. We got to Elizabethtown, Kentucky around supper time.
