Twenty years ago, Harold and Linda were in Bismarck visiting Pam's folks. Harold told me he was planning to buy a video camera and wondered if I would mind accompanying him to a local electronics store to look at a few models with him. "Sure," I said. We set off for Kirkwood Mall and after leaving the electronics store, Harold said, "As long as we're in the area, I'd like to check on some friends who are at a wedding reception at the Salvation Army building." So we drove two blocks to that site and I noticed several cars in the parking lot but thought nothing of it. I pulled up next to the front door and offered to wait. "No, no, come on it," Harold said, "I'd like you to meet them." I demurred noting I wasn't dressed for the occasion. But Harold insisted so I parked my car and we walked into the gymnasium. Inside, Pam, several friends and relatives completely surprised me with a 40th birthday party. You would think I would wise up.
After my 60th birthday had come and gone, Pam came into the living room on Saturday, September 25 and said she'd had a rough day and how about taking her out for dinner. Always compliant [Pam rolls eyes here], I asked where she'd like to eat. "This might be one of the last nice weekends at Apple Creek Country Club; how about going there?" So we drove out to the club. I love Rosie's cooking so it was not a hard sell. Little did I know the invitation below, drafted by my daughter, had gone out.

So, oblivious to the vehicles in the parking lot belonging to friends and relatives, I walked into the dining room with Pam.

Shock and awe

Lu Dahme looks on as Dave Cantrell welcomes me to the over-the-hill segment of society.
The Olsons and Shimmins came from the north country. Okay, maybe it was the free meal that got them there. ; )
Kerry Carpenter, Dave Helvig, and Dave Nelson joined me for a couple of tunes.
Thank you to my spousal unit who organized the whole affair. I had a great time. See you all in 2030 at a nursing home near you.
